A microchip is a small implant that is inserted under a dog or cat's skin. The owner then registers their information with Avid, the microchip company. If their pet becomes lost, and is scanned, it can be identified and returned to the owner.

Animal Friends implanted 27 pets for $25 which included the cost to register pets. The price range with veterinarians in the San Antonio area is $45 - $70 for implanting the chip plus $6 to register with Avid.

All proceeds went to benefit homeless pets at the Animal Friends shelter located at 23445 US 281 North, San Antonio, TX.
